Glue for
Envelopes/Stickers:
2 parts white glue
1 part vinegar
Mix well and paint
onto project. When dry, add another 1 or 2 coats.
Bath Oils:
Soy oil, olive oil,
or sunflower oil (just not vegetable oil-too short of a
shelf life)
Essential oils
Vitamin E oil
Pour soy oil into
decorative jar, adding about 8 drops of essential oil (more
or less, depending on the size of the jar). Add about 25
drops of Vitamin E oil. Place dried flower heads or potpourri
inside jar and put in cork. Heat wax slowly in old can, let
cool until film is over the wax. Dip top of jar with cork in
wax to seal. Decorate with raffia and dried flowers.
Bath Powder:
Mix one teaspoon
perfume and 1/2 cup cornstarch. Leave out to dry and then
place in cheese shaker.
Colored Flame
Pinecones:
Dip pinecones in wax
and then sprinkle with substance while wet. When placed in
the fire, the substance will cause the flame to burn
different colors.
Salt = yellow
flame
Borax = green
flame
Calcium Chloride
= orange flame
Epsom Salts =
white flames
Salt Substitute =
purple
Copper Sulfate =
blue-green
Boric Acid (roach
powder) = green
Scented Shower
Gel:
1/2 cup unscented
shampoo
1/4 cup water
3/4 tsp. salt
15 drops (about)
essential oil
Food coloring
Mix all ingredients
and place in decorative jar.
Friendship Tea:
1/2 cup instant tea
powder
1 cup lemonade powder
1 cup orange Tang
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground
cloves
Place in decorative
jar with instructions to measure 2 - 3 tsp. per mug.
Simmering Spice
Potpourri:
Mix equal parts of
whole cloves, star anise, and cinnamon sticks. Place some in
a square of cloth and tie closed with raffia. Attach a tag
with the directions: Place in pot and cover with water.
Simmer on low heat and add more water as needed.
