Recipes for Faux Items

Imitation Snow:
Shaving Cream
White glue
Mix equal parts (about) of each and 'paint' onto project with brush or fingers.

Imitation Water:
Mix a drop or two of food coloring with white glue and pour or paint onto project. Set aside where it will not be disturbed as it could take a couple of days to set up, depending on how much glue you have on the project.

Jewel Mixture:
1/2 Cup white glue
2 Cups rock salt
Food coloring
Mix the rock salt and food coloring. Add the glue and mix well. Either mold into shapes with hands or use cookie cutters to shape. Place on cardboard to dry.

Imitation Dirt:
When you need dirt to make an art project look more realistic, try mixing white glue with either potting soil or instant coffee, and then spreading it on. I used this in a tipped-over clay pot in a garden hanging, and also as the floor of a nativity stable.

Another 'Floor':
Mix sawdust with white glue for another type of floor or look to your project. I used this in the actual stable in place of a straw floor when making a nativity.
