Teacup Candle
This simple gift takes little prep time and
not very long to do. The price is pretty much up to you. If you
get the teacup and saucer from a yard sale or thrift store, then
it will cost very little. The other option is to buy the teacup
and saucer new.
Materials:
- Teacup
and saucer
- Candle
wick
- Wick
anchor
- Leftover
wax from candles or fresh wax from the store
- String
and tag from teabag
- Crayon to
dye the wax (if needed)
- Essential
oils to scent the candle (If needed)
Procedure:
- For melting the wax, please see my article The
Complete Guide to Candle Making.
- Prep the teacup by making sure it is clean and free of
dust.
- Attach the wick anchor to the wick. Tie the free end of
the wick to a pencil and span the pencil over the teacup,
making sure that the wick hangs straight and the anchor
is just nicely touching the base of the teacup.
- Place the string (from the teabag) into the teacup,
leaving the tag to hang outside.
- When the wax is ready, pour carefully into the cup,
repositioning the string and wick, if necessary.
- When the wax is hard, it may have a dip in the surface.
If it does, top it off with more wax.
