Fence Note Holder
I would
recommend this project for older children, ages 10 and up.
Materials:
- 8
Large craft sticks
- Clothespin
- Acrylic
paint
- Spray
Varnish
- 2
Paperclips
- Embellishments
- Tacky
glue or hot glue
- Old
scissors or pruners
- Sandpaper
- Twine
Procedure:
- Cut
points at one end of 6 of the craft sticks with the old
scissors or pruners (as this could be dangerous, the
adult may wish to do this part). Sand the rough edges
with the sandpaper.
- Lay 3
of the cut craft sticks flat on the table, pointy end at
the top. Glue the 2 uncut craft sticks horizontally for
the cross-bars. Glue the 3 remaining cut craft sticks
over the first 3, and on top of the 2 cross-bars, thereby
forming layers of 3 cut sticks, 2 cross-bars, and 2 cut
sticks. Glue the clothespin to the front and middle of
the fence. If you used tacky glue for this step, set
project aside until it is dry.
- Paint
fence. When dry, spray with spray varnish.
- Glue
on embellishments: buttons, silk flowers, painted wood
shapes, wire and beads, etc.
- Glue
paperclips to the back of the fence on each end of the
top cross-bar.
- When
dry, tie a length of twine to the paperclips.
- Now
it's ready for your notes! :o)
