"Seeds of
Faith" Potted Curio
This wonderful project is
good for older children. They make wonderful gifts and is also
easy enough to do if you wanted to gather a group of ladies
together to make nursing home visitation gifts. Even though it
would be best for Easter time, the message of the cross is really
for any day of the year.
Materials:
- 4" clay pot
- Floral foam
- Large craft sticks (tongue
depressors)
- Garden snips
- Tacky glue
- Brown paint
- Spray Varnish
- Felt
- Paper Grass
- Heart woodsie
- Popsicle stick
- Fine line permanent
black marker or paint
Procedure:
- Cut a piece of floral
foam to fit the pot. Glue inside.
- Taking 2 large craft
sticks, cut one so it is 4" long. Paint both brown.
Paint a popsicle stick brown. Paint the woodsie heart, if
desired, your color of choice. If you are painting the
words onto the heart, do this when the paint is dried.
Spray all the pieces when they are dry (If you choose to
leave the heart natural wood, you still have to spray it
so the marker will not bleed when applied later).
- Glue the large craft
sticks together to form a cross. Place a dab of glue on
top of the floral foam and insert the cross.
- Cut a strip of felt
and glue around the cross.
- If you haven't
already done so, print these words on the heart: "Plant
seeds of faith here" with the black marker. Glue the
popsicle stick to the back of the heart. Place a dab of
glue on the foam and insert the stick into the foam.
- Place more glue on
the foam and, taking some grass, press down on the foam,
covering it completely.
