Crazy Popcorn Balls
I got this recipe from my
friend Chris awhile ago and just got around to trying it out at
our church's Vacation Bible School. Let me tell you that the kids
just loved these (a lot of adults, too)! They are easy to make,
and would be great for kid's school parties.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 small envelope Jell-O
- A large bowl of
popcorn
- Pop lots of popcorn.
I did mine with a hot air popper, that way no oils get in
the corn. If you do have to do it with a pot, just add
enough oil to pop the corn in. Do not add any salt or
flavoring. It took two batches of popcorn with the hot
air popper, so about 1 cup of popcorn kernels.
- Next, place the
sugar, corn syrup, and Jell-O in a pot over low heat. Stir
with a wire whisk until the mixture is boiling and clear.
Pour over the popcorn. Mix well.
- Butter hands well to
prevent the popcorn from sticking to your hands. Form
into balls. Makes about 25 fist-sized balls.
